CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

GUIDELINES


The DOST-Science Education Institute, in collaboration with the ASTHRDP-National Science Consortium, will hold the 12th ASTHRDP Graduate Scholars’ Conference with the theme: “Artificial Intelligence: Embracing Change and Ethical Use in Research” on 12-13 September 2024 at the Dusit Thani Mactan Resort, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

This annual conference is a venue for ASTHRDP scholars to present their research outputs, build networks, and further their knowledge of the trends and developments in science and technology that will enable them to contribute more significantly to the scientific community and specifically to Filipino society.

If you would like to present your research at this year’s conference, please thoroughly read the guidelines before completing a submission.

 

I. APPLICATION

1. Eligibility: Ongoing ASTHRDP scholars in their thesis or dissertation stage with at least 80% results and graduates of AY 2023-2024 who have not yet presented their theses or dissertations in the past Graduate Scholars’ Conferences are eligible to submit their abstracts.

STRAND scholars (specializing in basic and applied sciences) who meet the above criteria are also eligible to submit their abstracts.

2. Categories: The research topic must fall into one of the categories listed below:

For interdisciplinary papers, the scholars may choose the category that is closest to their research.

3. Format and Word Count: The research abstract must follow the template and have a maximum of 250-word count.

4. Endorsement: Abstract submissions must be endorsed by the respective ASTHRDP or STRAND Project Leaders.

5. Submission: Scholars should submit their abstracts in PDF format (with copyable digital text) through the Submission Portal. The file name format should be followed:

Important Note: Scholars who opt to submit scanned abstracts should also accompany it with its digital version in PDF format. This is to ensure the abstract text will be copyable for posting on the website and the souvenir program.

 

6. Schedule: The call for abstracts starts on 3rd June 2024 and ends on 3rd July 2024 at 11:59 PM. Late submissions will not be accepted.

 

II. ACCEPTANCE AND CONFIRMATION

Notice of Acceptance: The scholars will be notified of their type of presentation (Oral or Poster) after the abstracts are evaluated by the Screening Committee.

Confirmation of Participation: Scholars must confirm their participation in the conference within five (5) days of receipt of the Notice of Acceptance. Once confirmed, the scholar MUST attend the conference.

Failure to do so shall mean that the scholar has to refund the cost of his/her participation (food, transportation fare (if applicable), collaterals, poster board rental, etc.).

GUIDELINES FOR THE JUDGES

This guideline is intended for the Judges of the Poster Presentations.

1. Categories: Presentations are grouped according to the following categories.

2. Composition: Each scientific category will have three (3) Judges.
